Responses of cumin (Cuminum cyminum L.) to different seed priming methods under osmotic stress

A common problem with vegetable production in drought areas is low crop stand, but germination data are limited and inconsistent for cumin. Different priming methods positively affect the enhancement of seed seedlings growth, especially under stress conditions. The objective this study was to assess effects different treatment (unprimed seeds as control, hydro-priming, salicylic acid, jasmonic paclobutrazol, chitosan) on cumin indices physiological traits osmotic (0, -5, -10 bar; induced by polyethylene glycol-6000). Seed reduced 9.77% 23.95% potential -5 bar, respectively, compared non-stressed Nevertheless, enhanced improved photosynthetic pigments activity peroxidase, catalase, superoxide dismutase enzymes at all levels non-primed seeds. treated acid showed highest seedling vigor index chlorophyll carotenoids content non-stress Under high level (-10 bar), caused increasing 59.3%, 55.19%, 54.26%, 57.52%, 47.72% index, total chlorophyll, a, b, content, respectively. In conclusion, can modify negative resulting parameters.
